CCMC Workshop 2024

The 11th CCMC Community Workshop will be held at The Hotel at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland on June 3-7, 2024, with a special theme on open science in modeling.

Biennial CCMC community workshops are designed as opportunities for an in-depth exchange of experiences, opinions and needs between model owners, science and operational users, educators, agency representatives and the CCMC staff.

This year, in addition to these CCMC topics, we will hold several discussion sessions focused on open science in modeling, as an NSF sponsored Innovations in Open Science Planning Workshop. These sessions include advancing the open use of models and simulation outputs, open model validation and R2O2R, and open science infrastructure in modeling for heliophysics. The goal is to hold discussions on opportunities and challenges and then follow up with a public community recommendation report.

We now have a limited amount of travel funding available from our NSF sponsor for those participants interested in contributing to Open Science sessions and the community report. Please see the Travel Support Application for more details and the form to apply.

Travel Support Application

We have a limited amount of travel funding available from our NSF sponsor (as an Innovations in Open Science Planning Workshop) for those participants interested in contributing to Open Science sessions and the community report. Please note that this funding only covers flights (booked by our booking agents) and hotel accommodations (booked by you and paid directly by us). This does not include reimbursement for travel already booked or paid.

The travel funds will support a diversified group of scientists including modelers and users, underrepresented groups, scientists at different career phases, early career, mid career, and senior. IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equality and Accessibility) is our primary consideration when we distribute the travel support and invite speakers. Our objective is to involve the broadest community as possible and provide an unbiased recommendation of open modeling infrastructure to the community.
