Integration of Extended MHD and Kinetic Effects in Global Magnetosphere Models

CCMC is supporting the "Integration of Extended MHD and Kinetic Effects in Global Magnetosphere Models" effort within the NASA/NSF Partnership For Collaborative Space Weather Modeling. The primary science focus is the integration of extended magnetohydrodynamics (XMHD) and kinetic effects in global magnetospheric models. The main deliverable is the next generation OpenGGCM with support for multi-fluid moment plasma models and corresponding closures, in addition to MHD / XMHD based plasma models. The next generation OpenGGCM will support mesh refinement and implicittime integration, as well as enhanced coupling to inner magnetosphere and ionospheric models.
