CCMC-LWS Workshop 2017

Goals going into the meeting

  • Describe a complex model chain using the current SPASE meta-data model
  • Explore how observation data, model data, and their associated meta-data can be stored in a centralized database for the purpose of model-data comparison (prototype of the Metrics&Validation, MAV, framework developed at CCMC)
  • Explore how the SPASE meta-data model can be used in combination of other meta-data schema for additional post-processing tasks, such as interpolation

Deliverables prior to the meeting

  • Describe the Space Weather Modeling Framework (SWMF SWPC test version) using the SPASE meta-data model
  • Obtain 2 or 3 datasets (observation and model) from other working teams to be stored in the new MAV database
  • Extend SPASE model description to reference external meta-data schema for post-processing, which is required for interpolation. As an example, show how to reference a schema for interpolating a CCMC model using the Advanced Scientific Data Format (ASDF). ASDF is a hybrid text and binary format designed for extensibility and human-readable metadata
  • Tutorials/tools for working with SPASE metadata. These should be made publicly available, to be used in splinter groups
