Data and model comparisons

This is the web interface for the visualization of observational data and results of several model run results.

Please review the default selections below and make your changes.

To start the graphics program click the Update Plot button. The resulting image will be displayed at this location of the page.

Should the result be a black image, then the graphics program encountered a programming error. Please report the set of input parameters used.

Update Plot will update (generate) the plot with the chosen time and plot parameters below.
This will take some time (typically 10-30s) as data are read in and processed.

Start: Year:  Month:  Day:  Hour:  Minute:  Second:
to End: Year:  Month:  Day:  Hour:  Minute:  Second:

Choose Quantity to be displayed:

Plot Options:
Image magnification
Line thickness (EPS image output only)
Character thickness  (all annotations)
Thickeness of Observation Data overplot (0: obs. data appears behind model results)
New: Logarithmic Y axis  (when log scale is selected, skills are calculated from the logarithm of observation and model values)
New: Apply lower limit to data  Minimum value:
New: Apply upper limit to data  Maximum value:
Vertical offset between data and model traces: (≠0: stack plot)

Select model settings
9_SWMF:   SWMF.v20110131, ~1 mln cells with RCM, 1/4 Re res. out to 8 Re real time on 64 processors at CCMC (DeltaB, Dst from CCMC processing CalcDeltaB)
3_WEIMER:   Weimer 2011, Empirical model of geomagnetic perturbations finalized in 2011. Input values are from ACE measurements and the F10.7 index.
4_WEIMER:   Weimer 2011, Empirical geomagnetic prediction model, IMF values for input to model are derived from 5min averages of ACE data calculated at 1min. intervals.
5_WEIMER:   Weimer empirical geomagnetic prediction model (issued 2012/04/06, geographic station positions. WARNING - this one used solar wind By=0 in error!)
6_WEIMER:   Weimer empirical geomagnetic prediction model (issued 2012/04/06, geographic station positions, outputs rotated to geomagnetic dipole coordinates, 17-minute solar wind delay added)
2_WEIGEL:   Robert Weigel's ground perturbation model, 30-minute values, based on 12-hour history of vBs, run at CCMC in April 2012
  3_WEIGEL:   R.Weigel's ground perturbation model (issued 2012/03/15)

Reset Form will reset changes to the defaults specified by the previous run of this script.
Update Plot will update (generate) the plot with the chosen time and plot parameters above.
