** NOTE: Times are relative to start of Zoom session, in this case around 8:03am before a 9am meeting start time. 00:56:46 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Good morning, all! And welcome to day 2 of the 2022 CCMC Workshop! In order to avoid open mics or unnecessary background noise, we are muting participants when they join the meeting. Please remain muted and refrain from sharing your video to avoid bandwidth issues. During the Q&A sessions, please raise your hand if you have a question. When called upon, the host will invite you to unmute and, optionally, share your video. 01:02:00 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): We can hear online. 01:12:28 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): To raise your hand to make a comment or ask a question, click the Reactions icon, then "Raise Hand". 01:15:41 Rebecca Ringuette: Could the speakers please remain in front of the mic? 01:16:15 Rebecca Ringuette: Thanks! 01:21:06 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Please raise your hand if you'd like to make a comment or ask a question. 01:23:25 Rebecca Ringuette: Question for Nick Arge: Considering the discussion yesterday, what ideas do you have for using WSA in various areas of education? 01:24:31 Rebecca Ringuette: (Nick, please email me with your answer. rebecca.ringuette@nasa.gov) 01:34:29 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): We can't hear Jon Linker. 01:39:01 Siegfried Gonzi - Met Office: Isn't the whole point of an ensemble system that every member has the same voting rights and there is no member that is closer to the truth that any other member. The truth is uknown and all you got is observations which have massive errors. I have also a PhD student who does rankings of ADAPT-WSA coronal holes by using CHIMERA observations. But when you read the meteorlogy litearture it seems to me rankings cannot be done otherwise it is not a real ensemble system. 01:40:13 Rebecca Ringuette: I get the same impression from meteorology 01:46:50 Rebecca Ringuette: Would the WSA team and the community be interested in putting the WSA dashboard in iSWA? 02:01:38 Rebecca Ringuette: @Jon Linker: Will PSI be working to make this code open source, and possibly collaborate with others to apply this technology to other models? 02:05:46 Rebecca Ringuette: Thanks 02:14:46 Siegfried Gonzi - Met Office: How can there be such a large error (or difference to uncorrected GONG) at STEREO-A with ENLIL based ADAPT runs? When at the same time ENLIL runs with GONG at Earth are a closer match. There is nothing in ADAPT that would favour the Earth. 02:22:42 Mike Marsh - Met Office: @Dusan: You mentioned looking at the sensitivity of CME arrival time by varying the BSW and CME velocity by 20% and conclude that the CME velocity is the most significant factor. However, since the CME velocity is usually a few times greater than the BSW then varying the velocity by percentage rather than absolute value doesn't seem like a fair comparison? Would you reach the same conclusion if you varied both the BSW and CME velocities by the same absolute values? 02:31:47 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): The workshop is taking a coffee break and will reconvene at 11:00 am EST. 03:00:29 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Welcome back, folks! The 2022 CCMC Workshop should reconvene shortly. 03:00:55 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): If you're just joining us - in order to avoid open mics or unnecessary background noise, we are muting participants when they join the meeting. 03:01:24 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): During the Q&A sessions, please raise your hand if you have a question or comment. When called upon, the host will invite you to unmute and, optionally, share your video. 03:02:25 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): To raise your hand, click the Reactions icon and then "Raise Hand". 03:02:52 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): If you run into any issues or have any suggestions, feel free to send me a chat message! 03:15:50 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Please raise your hand if you'd like to make a comment or ask a question. 03:55:17 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Feel free to raise your hand if you have a question or comment! 03:57:06 KD Leka: are the presentations available? I want to go see something from Luca's and I can't... 03:59:34 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): @KD Leka, the plan is to provide copies of the presentations at the end of the workshop. 04:06:36 Darren De Zeeuw: Siegfried, we are out of time, can you please type your comments in the chat instead? 04:07:54 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Thanks for attending the morning session. The workshop will reconvene after lunch around 1:30 pm EST. 04:08:26 Pete Riley: @ Alexei - yes, confidence intervals are crucial, but KD's point is important too. At the least, if uncertainties are given, a clear description of how they were produced should accompany them. 04:08:47 Siegfried Gonzi - Met Office: If we had the perfect synoptic map possible what would still be the error in the solar wind speed at 21.5Rs? Also I cannot see how the information of uncertainty maps can ever be used say in WSA and the PFSS/Schatten model. 04:09:33 Siegfried Gonzi - Met Office: The way forward are ensembles and ADAPT did a great start. 04:10:18 CCMC Workshop: We are going to close the zoom and bring it back up shortly 04:10:40 Rebecca Ringuette: I need to save the chat first 04:11:20 CCMC Workshop: Rebecca, chat is automatically saved :) 04:12:09 Rebecca Ringuette: thanks, please send me the file ** NOTE: The zoom session needed to restart at around 12:05 just before lunch. The time reset accordingly. 00:12:45 Darren De Zeeuw: Adding a message in chat. 00:14:37 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): The 2022 CCMC Workshop is breaking for lunch. It will reconvene at 1:30 pm EST. 01:25:51 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Welcome back from lunch! For those just joining us, in order to avoid open mics or unnecessary background noise, we are muting participants when they join the meeting. 01:26:21 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Please remain muted and refrain from sharing your video. 01:26:23 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): During the Q&A sessions, please raise your hand if you have a question. When called upon, the host will invite you to unmute and, optionally, share your video. 02:09:26 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): We can hear him online. 02:09:29 Chinwe Didigu: We can hear online 03:21:29 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Any questions? Feel free to raise your hands. 03:23:27 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): The workshop is breaking for an afternoon coffee and/or tea. We will reconvene at 4:00 pm EST. 03:45:55 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): Welcome back, folks. We'll be starting the final session for today shortly. 03:46:51 Chinwe Didigu: We can hear online 03:47:37 Corey Bettenhausen (CCMC) (he/him): We can hear her online. 03:47:43 Andy Marble: we can hear online okay 03:47:46 Michalis Karavolos: We can hear online 03:47:53 Soukaina Filali Boubrahimi: We can hear Olga over Zoom 04:03:30 Olga Malandraki: Electron measurements onboard future mission is critical for the unique REleASE forecasting capability to work 04:46:27 Tyler Schiewe (CCMC): Any questions online? Feel free to raise your hands. 05:37:28 Rebecca Ringuette: High energy astrophysics has gotten quite good at detecting high energy particles. I would recommend a collaboration with them. 05:45:51 Tyler Schiewe (CCMC): We’ve completed all of today’s sessions. Thank you for participating. Please join us again tomorrow at 9:00 am EST.
