Detailed listing of data in the widget
Download the SWAN widget

The NASA Space Weather Laboratory SWAN Widget displays images, plots, etc. of both observational data as well as model simulation data. Model Simulation Data is derived from real time simulations at the Community Coordinated Modeling Center at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The models are provided by the research community.

Buttons and Sub-panels

The NASA Space Weather Laboratory SWAN Widget can display real time plots for the following regions by selecting the corresponding button:

  • Solar
  • Heliosphere
  • Magnetosphere
  • Ionosphere
NOTE: Each Region Above has a sub-pannel with additional display options for each region:

Solar

  1. Solar Coronal Magnetic Field
  2. SOHO & STEREO Images
  3. Goes X-Ray, Proton, & Electric Flux
  4. Solar Photospheric Magnetograms

Heliosphere

  1. Heliospheric Tomography Maps
  2. Stereo Beacon Solar Energetic Particles ( SEP ) Stereo + Ace
  3. ENLIL Solar Wind
  4. Stereo Beacon Insitu
  5. Lasco C2, C3, C3 Running Difference, and Stereo Coronographs

Magnetosphere

  1. KP & SWMF DST
  2. SWMF Magnetopause Position, Standoff History, & GOES Magnetic Field
  3. SWMF Magnetosphere & ACE Solar Wind Time Line
  4. Fok Ring Current

Ionosphere

  1. SWMF Ionosphere
  2. Weimer Electric Potential
  3. Geomagnetically Induced Electric Field
There is also a "Media" button that will display content for a selected event or other relevant Space Weather news.

The loop button allows the user to switch between displaying a single plot or cycling through the available plots. A green indicator light activates whenever the cycle/loop mode is on.

The Backside of the Widget allows the user to select the loop interval - either 5,10, or 30 seconds.
